The goal of this project is to monitor moisture content and its effects on a building envelope. To better understand how moisture interacts with materials, tests are being done quantify moisture content and the uncertainty. Common wooden building materials like OSB and plywood are in focus, to make accurate estimations.

The experimental process involves using the electrical resistance technique to measure moisture content – embedding two pins in a sample along or across the grain and measuring the resistance which tell you correlates the moisture content (resistance or conductivity). The process also includes using an environmental chamber to dry the testing specimens in order to determine the difference in weight.
