Marek joined CABER in Fall 2025 as part of his Master’s studies in Sustainable Development, a joint program between Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. Trained as an architect, he temporarily interrupted his professional practice to undertake a deep, low-emission retrofit project, integrating principles of a low carbon footprint as well as positive climate and biodiversity impacts, while simultaneously pursuing his academic degree.
At CABER, Marek is expanding his understanding of retrofitting practices by participating in a Canadian project, focusing on both in-situ and laboratory testing of biogenic insulation materials for use in experimental building envelope assemblies.
