Myles joined CABER in Summer 2023, beginning work on research for his M.A.Sc. under supervision of Dr. Cynthia Cruickshank. He graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering.
His master’s research included using EnergyPlus and Delphin to create calibrated energy and hygrothermal models of a recent deep energy retrofit pilot in Ottawa. He then simulated the calibrated models against extreme weather scenarios for future climate projections, to assess the resilience of the design.
Moving forward, his PhD. research will include hygrothermal testing and modeling of a novel prefabricated wall design for the Canadian housing market. Through these experiments, he will investigate methods to improve the accuracy of hygrothermal models and better quantify their uncertainty.
