Nathan Hay
M.A.Sc. Candidate
Degrees: | B.Eng. |
Nathan joined CABER in September 2022 after completing his Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems and Renewable Energy at the University of Ottawa in the spring of 2021. Nathan is now pursuing his M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Cynthia Cruickshank. His research involves the optimization of building envelope thermal storage integration based on internal surface solar radiation profiles via modelling and full-scale experimentation. This work aims to develop methods for integrating PCM composite building materials into spaces such that implementation costs are decreased and energy storage performances are increased.
Aside from his research, Nathan has spent the last five summers working as a wildland firefighter across numerous provinces in Canada and has witnessed the devastating effects of climate change on Canadian forests firsthand. Because of this, Nathan has a keen interest in building advancements and renewable energy systems which prioritize green growth and sustainable development.
