Peter Svidler joined the Centre for Advanced Building Envelope Research in September 2020, after completing his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at Dalhousie University. Supervised by Dr. Cynthia Cruickshank, Peter is currently engaged in a project with Natural Resources Canada to research and develop thin, high-performance wall assembly designs employing nascent insulation materials. The goal of his research is to develop a highly insulated, cost effective wall design compatible with current wood frame construction practices.

Peter is currently pursuing a Masters of Sustainable Energy Engineering at Carleton University. Peter was drawn to Carleton by his desire to learn more about how buildings can take part in reversing the ongoing climate crisis, while simultaneously playing a role in addressing issues related to housing access. He is also interested in how society perceives and interacts with new technology, and in particular green technology.
