Sara joined the CABER group in January 2024 for her Ph.D. in Building Engineering Performance. Her current research focuses on energy retrofits for residential communities in Ottawa. She aims to optimize energy efficiency, life cycle assessments (LCA), life cycle costs (LCC), and occupant behavior aspects of buildings through experimental data collection and software simulation analysis. Her study aims to reduce both greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and investments, as well as provide insights into potential energy savings on a community scale.

She completed her Master’s degree in Energy and Architecture at Tehran University of Art in 2023. Her Master’s thesis focused on calculating and predicting carbon emissions of residential buildings during their life cycle. To achieve this, she advanced her knowledge in energy modeling, life cycle assessment, building information modeling (BIM), and data analysis.

Additionally, Sara has worked as a Building Information Modeler and Energy Analyst for three years in various companies. This experience helped her gain proficiency in energy modeling for different building types and optimizing designs based on energy performance results.
