Shawn joined the CABER group in April 2025 as a Postdoctoral Fellow. His research focuses on using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to evaluate the effect wood stoves have on the thermal comfort environment in northern residential buildings. He also contributes to a community retrofit project by assisting with experimental testing, data collection, and project coordination to support emission reduction while maintaining occupant comfort. Additionally, he is conducting CFD simulations of ventilated wall systems to analyze airflow behaviour and the potential for improved moisture control.
He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Nagoya University and an M.A.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University, where his studies focused on experimental and numerical investigations of two-phase flow.
