Teema joined CABER in Winter 2025 after completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Carleton University. She is now pursuing her M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Dr. Cynthia Cruickshank.
Teema’s research involves experimentally evaluating the thermal and hygrothermal behaviour of a range of wood fibre insulation products, including rigid boards, batts, and loose-fill materials. She is working to generate a comprehensive dataset that captures how these materials respond to moisture and heat, which is essential for developing accurate hygrothermal models and for supporting broader adoption of these low-carbon products in both new construction and retrofit applications.
In addition to her material characterization work, Teema is actively calibrating moisture-sensing equipment to support future CABER research projects. This effort aims to improve the accuracy of in-situ moisture monitoring and enhance the reliability of ongoing and upcoming hygrothermal projects.
