Thomas Dalkowski
Research Coordinator
Degrees: | B. Eng. |
Thomas joined the CABER group as a Research Assistant in May 2022 after completing his B.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. He began his M.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering in September 2022. He is completing his Master of Applied Science in August 2024 and will begin working at CABER full-time in September 2024.
His interests include deep energy retrofits and panelized construction techniques. This led him to pursue research in the performance and sustainability of building envelope retrofits. Thomas is currently researching retrofit assemblies for commercial steel buildings.
His thesis title is “Development of Panelized Exterior Retrofit Solutions for Commercial and Institutional Buildings”. The thesis project tested two potential exterior retrofit solutions for a community centre in Montreal, Quebec. One solution uses an all-in-one building enclosure system, and the other uses wood fibre insulation boards.
His work as a research coordinator will include working with the CABER team on projects, undertaking experimental testing, modelling projects, and assistance with data collection.
