University of Antwerp
The Antwerp Consortium on the Organization of Rulemaking and Multi-level Governance in Europe (ACTORE), was established at the University of Antwerp in early 2017 as a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence financed by the European Commission. ACTORE brings together scholars from law, public administration and political science with multidisciplinary expertise in multi-level and multi-actor organization of the EU. It facilitates the development of joint research and the common organization of Ph.D. training, functions as a hub for EU related teaching, thereby enabling innovation in teaching programs and reaching out to new students and citizens interested in life-long learning, and acts as an organizer of events for targeted groups.
Within the Jean Monnet Canada-EU Network, ACTORE, and in particular political scientists Prof. Dr. Dirk De Bièvre and Prof. Dr. Peter Bursens, will participate in student and staff exchanges as well as organize workshops. It will host incoming Canadian M.A. students, as well as Ph.D. researchers, wishing to benefit from intellectual exchange with Antwerp Faculty and to take advantage of the geographical proximity of EU institutions in neighbouring Brussels. ACTORE will organize a workshop on EU-Canada trade relations within the Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement between the European Union and Canada (CETA) on 22 May 2018 in Antwerp.
