When: Tuesday, September 25 at 10:00 am (please arrive a little early as the tour begins at exactly 10:00)Where: Beechwood Cemetery and then on to Dominion City Brewing Company
Beechwood Cemetery is Canada’s National Cemetery and a beautiful park-like area in its own right, and was a very generous sponsor of the CURAC Conference held at Carleton last year.
We will meet at the entrance to the main building at 280 Beechwood Avenue. There is a parking lot behind the building. It is a walking tour and takes about an hour. Maps and other information can be found at www.beechwoodottawa.ca.
After Beechwood, we will proceed to the Dominion City Brewing Company, at 5510 Canotek Road, Unit 15. The tour there will begin around 11:30 am and will last about half an hour. It costs $15. This includes four flights of 5 oz. pours. Nobody is obliged to finish chug-a-lugging all that beer, but it is there for the tasting. After the brewery tour, we will have a light lunch. Don’t expect gourmet, but it should provide welcome comfort. Information can be found at www.dominioncity.ca.
Directions from Beechwood to the Brewery:
You can go east on Montreal Road, left on Stratford Road and then right onto Canotek, or you can go down St. Laurent to the Queensway and go east to the Montreal Road exit, and then back west to Stratford. From Canotek Road, you turn left on Canotek Road (because it goes around a loop and comes back on itself).
This looks like an outing of grave sobriety; however we can drown our sorrows in the second half!! We would love it if you can join us, please email Bob Morrison at robertmorrison@rogers.com if you are interested.
