Aaron Pentz is pursuing his life-long dream of becoming a teacher out on the east coast of Canada. The English Department at Carleton University connected him with multiple professional opportunities in the Ottawa theatre scene. He is the Media Director and Artistic Producer of Letters In Time, as well as having directing, acting, and tech-design credits with the Ottawa Fringe Festival.
The Drama Studies Program has been essential to my growth as an artist and an academic. The blended learning structure of theory and practicum has created a foundation from which all my theatrical experience builds. The academic perspective helped me become a better dramaturg to better critically analyze the works that I get to be part of; the practicum gave me a creative space to experiment with many forms of artistic creation which have made me a better playwright and director. Outside of the classrooms, the department helped pair me with artists in the local scene, providing me professional career opportunities.
Why Carleton? Because Carleton’s Department of English devised a beautiful curriculum that balanced a thorough academic approach with practical hands-on learning opportunities. The result of my very positive experience with Carleton and the Drama Studies Program in English I am actively pursing my lifelong dream of becoming a Drama Teacher!
