Lauren Iwamoto

Carleton’s Department of English and its dedicated, dynamic faculty restored my love for literature and invigorated an interest in academia after a lacklustre high school career. I know the skills I have learned here – to think critically, to write intelligently, to research with efficacy – will serve me no matter where I go. The creative writing concentration, and its workshops in particular, fostered my creativity and individuality. The concentration was integral to my engagement with my professors, peers, and the vibrant writers’ community in Ottawa. Thanks to the feedback and guidance I have received here I have grown as both a writer and editor, leading me to a career in publishing.
