Hossein Rahbar is a PhD student in mechanical engineering at Carleton University. He received his MSc (2019) from the Isfahan University of Technology, focusing on computational solid mechanics and nanomechanics. During his master’s, he joined International Research Center on Mathematics and Mechanics of Complex Systems (MEMOCS) in Italy to broaden his expertise in computational solid mechanics.

His research area involves finite element analysis, molecular dynamics, numerical analysis of dynamic partial differential equations, and continuum mechanics. His work has focused primarily on programming a numerical package to simulate martensitic phase transformations of Ni-AL alloys at the nanoscale. He has also worked on investigating the impact of thermal strains on phase transformations.

Hossein Rahbar joined the EPTL group to develop multiscale process design tools for the synthesis of metallic agglomerates using atomistic modeling, which extensively contributes to technologies related to low-cost energy storage systems such as the new generation of Lithium-ion batteries.
