Workshop on March 26th

Participants will include researchers from Europe and North America who are actively involved in research on Roma inclusion and education policy, as well as practitioners in education policy and prominent members of Roma communities.

Although there are similar challenges facing the education systems in the EU, the USA and Canada in terms of meaningful inclusion of Roma children at all levels of education, there are also substantial differences in the approaches taken by each of the countries in the EU and each of the states and provinces in the USA and Canada. These differences, rooted in the history of the countries as well as the current socio-political climate, include policies as well as practices that affect deeply the educational pathways possible for Roma children and the future opportunities they have to become fully engaged and contributing members of the countries in which they reside. The dialogue is intended to provide space for sharing these similarities and differences and to learn from both.
