Speakers: Anna Westerstahl Stenport, Director, European Union Centre, Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Scott MacKenzie, Assistant Professor and Visiting Research Fellow, Film&Media, Queen’s University
The speakers are co-editors of the book Fillms on Ice: Cinemas of the Arctic and will present visual narratives from the EU’s Arctic information site. This will be contrasted with the UN and Nordic governmental initiatives on the Arctic and climate change. Focusing on moving images (informational videos, government and NGO products, documentary, corproate brancing), the speakers address environmental and social changes in the region and the challenges it faces due to climate change.
