David McKie is an investigative producer in CBC News’ Parliamentary bureau, who has used data-journalism techniques to break a number of stories on subjects including the Temporary Foreign Workers program, the seizure of drugs, guns, and other goods at Canadian border crossings, and Canada’s trade deficit with the European Union. David has won many awards, including the 2008 Governor-General’s Michener Award for his work on the team that told stories about the RCMP’s use of Tasers. David teaches a research methods course and data-journalism course at Carleton. He has co-authored two journalism textbooks: Digging Deeper: A Canadian Reporter’s Research Guide, Second Edition; and Computer-Assisted Reporting: A Comprehensive Primer.
