Mikayla Paton is a settler of Italian and Scottish descent committed to supporting and amplifying Indigenous voices across Turtle Island. A graduate of Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts in Law, Mikayla worked with Gowling WLG to assist claimants applying for the Federal Indian Day Schools Class Action.

She holds a certificate in Arbitration and Alternate Dispute Resolution, specializing in Indigenous community-directed processes and is a member of the ADR Institute of Ontario and its national affiliate.

Mikayla’s portfolio includes the Collaborative Indigenous Learning Bundles, the development of the Hiring Policy for Positions Limited to Indigenous Candidates and the ongoing implementation of the Kinàmàgawin Report’s 41 Calls to Action.

Mikayla holds several certifications in Indigenous specific pedagogies which reflect her ongoing commitment to learning and her drive for leading and supporting new initiatives. She collaborates closely with Dr. Kahente Horn-Miller, Naomi Bird, the Ānako Indigenous Research Institute, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and other members of Carleton’s Indigenous community.
