Naomi Bird is nēhiyaw (Cree) and Anishinabe from Thunderchild First Nation in Saskatchewan. She brings extensive experience as an educator and program developer, having worked with learners from nursery through post-secondary, including students with disabilities. Her roles have included Functionally Integrated Lifeskills Program Teacher and Special Education Coordinator.

Naomi has contributed to the development of curricula in Land-Based Learning, Special Education and Distance Learning. She holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master of Educational Administration from the University of Saskatchewan.

Naomi currently serves as Manager, Administration and Research Services (Indigenous Initiatives) with both the Ānako Indigenous Research Institute and the Office of the Associate Vice-President Indigenous Teaching, Learning and Research.

Naomi has been married for 25 years to Simon Bird and together they have two children.
