On July 8, 2014, the Information Systems Steering Committee (ISSC) approved three new IT projects to be implemented at Carleton:
- Banner Upgrade 2014
- Auto-Entrance Scholarships Process
- Outgoing Exchange Application
The Banner Upgrade Project has becoming quite a yearly occurrence on campus with the involvement of over a dozen departments involved in the technical (environment set-up, fixes, upgraded systems) and functional (testing, upgrade sign-off) aspects of the upgrade. The project will culminate in “upgrade weekend” from 12 p.m. on November 14, 2014 to 8 a.m. November 17, 2014 where Banner systems will be offline to perform the upgrade. By the start of business on Monday, all of the planned Banner systems will be upgraded to the latest releases.
The Auto-Entrance Scholarship Project re-develops aged functionality that will allow Carleton to continue to offer quick scholarship offers to undergraduate students that are harmonized with admissions offers to the university. This project is key to continuing to attract students to the university and allows us to address deficiencies in the current functionality.
The Outgoing Exchange Application Project modernizes our processing of student exchange applications that is currently paper-based and inefficient. Allowing students to complete the applications online, having efficient administrative systems, and automated communications will greatly improve Carleton’s ability to support a growing number of students going on exchange.
