Kalem’s current work revolves around the selection of an aptamer to be used for the inhibition of an enzyme needed for plant growth. Kalem completed his BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Ottawa, where he assisted in the characterization of an aptamer that recognized the Nucleocapsid protein of SARS-CoV-2.
