The Steacie Building for Chemistry is named in honour of E.W.R. Steacie, a distinguished chemist who served as chair of Carleton’s board of governors and president of the National Research Council.

Parking

Exterior Entrances

Accessible main entrance near Campus Avenue (East side), leads to level 1.

Interior Entrances

Tunnel entrance with door opener leads to level 1 lobby. Link to Health Sciences building on level 1.

Elevators

2 elevators. One serves levels 1-5, and features tactile and braille buttons. The other is smaller, serves levels 1-4, and features tactile and braille buttons and an audible announcement system (voice and beeps).

Washrooms

Accessible stall in multi-stall washroom on level 1 (open entry, door opener). Accessible universal washroom on level 3 (door opener).

Telephones

Pay phones on first level are accessible.

Classrooms

Most of the classrooms are accessible. All laboratories are inaccessible unless minor modifications are made.

Study Areas

Some study spaces available in lounge areas on levels 1 to 3.

Food/Beverages

Tunnel access to cafeteria/lounge facilities in the University Centre and Loeb Building.
