
Laura Hochheim Thomé is a second-year Master of Global Affairs (MGA) student at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy. She graduated from the University of Vale do Rio dos Sinos in Brazil with a BA in International Affairs with distinction.
Her professional journey spans across the public sector, NGOs, and international organizations. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a human rights intern at the Secretariat for Justice, Citizenship, and Human Rights of the Rio Grande do Sul State Government. Additionally, she gained valuable experience as a research intern at the International Policy Center for Inclusive Growth (IPC-IG) and the Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD).
Laura’s academic and professional interests include gender, migration and refugees, human rights, and international development. She aspires to pursue a career in international organizations or the nonprofit sector, leading policy assessment and international development projects for refugees and migrants, particularly women in Latin America.
