Liberal organizer Brian Klunder spoke to students in POLM 5001 (Institutions and Governance I) about ongoing efforts to improve the party’s organization and funding. Klunder emphasized work to create a state-of-the-art database that will allow Liberals to improve fundraising and voter targeting. He also spoke about the new category of party supporters, individuals who will be allowed to vote in the upcoming leadership race without having to join the party. Klunder was a political aide to Transport Minister David Collenette, Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister John Manley, and Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh. He worked in Liberal party headquarters as manager of election readiness, director of national membership, and director of fundraising. He is now vice president at the public relations firm of Fleishman-Hillard and continues to serve on Liberal party committees.
