Students in POLM 5001 (Institutions and Governance) had a rare opportunity to meet on Parliament Hill with Audrey O’Brien, clerk of the House of Commons, who gave them an advanced lesson in parliamentary procedure. Ms. O’Brien has been clerk of the House of Commons since 2005 and is co-editor of House of Commons Procedure and Practice, the most comprehensive book ever published on the topic in Canada.
