Professor Stephen Azzi gave a presentation at the Walter Gordon Symposium on Public Policy at Massey College, Toronto. Part of a panel on foreign investment in the resource sector, Dr. Azzi called for improved clarity in Investment Canada’s review process. In his view, the objectives of Canadian policy are murky, the process lacks transparency, and there appear to be few if any consequences for foreign investors that break their promises to protect Canadian jobs. Dr. Azzi’s co-panellists were economists Jim Stanford of the Canadian Auto Workers and Daniel Schwanen of the C.D. Howe Institute.
