Most senators are capable people of integrity, according to Azzi, who said it is a shame that Brazeau’s actions taint the Senate. Azzi was also critical of Prime Minister Stephen Harper. No prime minister has talked more about Senate reform than Harper, Azzi said, but the Brazeau appointment shows that the prime minister has acted like his predecessors, making appointments based on partisanship, rather than ability and integrity.
