MPM alumna Rachel Gouin (MPM/17) has been appointed Executive Director of the Child Welfare League of Canada, where she’ll defend the rights of young people and strengthen the capacity of communities to meet their needs. Prior to this appointment, she was Director of Research and Public Policy with Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada, where she significantly increased the visibility of the organization with government and raised millions for child and youth programs. Over the course of her career in the nonprofit sector, she has advocated for the advancement and rights of children, youth, and women in Canada and internationally. Rachel holds a PhD in Education from McGill University for her research on social movement learning. She credits the MPM program for improving her strategic communication skills and for making her a more effective lobbyist. “The program helped me understand the political landscape from the perspective of the government and of the opposition. That was extremely valuable, having come from the nonprofit sector.”
