Kristin Wilton
Senior Communications Advisor, Emergency Medical Care Inc.
Degrees: | MPM/17 |
Born and raised in a small town in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Kristin graduated with a Bachelor of Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University prior to moving to Ottawa to take the Master’s of Political Management program. In addition to her communications experience, Kristin played key roles in strategy development on several political campaigns – the driving factor in her decision to move to Ottawa to get first-hand experience in federal politics.
Kristin completed the practicum portion of the MPM program at Summa Strategies Canada where she then began working as a Consultant specializing in government relations, public affairs and assisting clients as they navigated through the political process. Kristin has since moved back to Cape Breton where she worked in communications and government relations in the post-secondary industry. Kristin is now a Senior Communications Advisor at Emergency Medical Care Inc.
The professors in the MPM program are political experts who offer insight from both a government and opposition perspective. Their connections gave us access to highly influential people and the opportunity to attend many events with previous program alumni, politician’s, staffers and others in the industry. This not only grew my professional network immensely, but it also helped me land my internship which then turned into a full-time job. If it wasn’t for this program, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
