Ryan is a Public Affairs Advisor, Halifax Regional Municipality. Formerly the Membership and Supplier Diversity Manager with Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce. In that position, he fosters community economic development and business growth in the queer entrepreneurship community by overseeing and expanding the Chamber’s membership base, as well as coordinating all programming. He also manages the Chamber’s Supplier Diversity Program, which actively promotes the economic empowerment of LGBTQ+ owned businesses, and Global Program, which grows international LGBTQ+ business activities.
A proud Nova Scotian, Ryan has nearly five years of experience in communications, stakeholder relations, and campaign management from the political sector. Most recently, he served as Press Secretary and Advisor to the federal Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion, and International Trade. In this position, he led on all ministerial media activities in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to that, he worked for Member of Parliament Darrell Samson while studying at Carleton University. He also has managed multiple political campaigns.
Ryan holds a Bachelor of Public Relations from Mount Saint Vincent University and a Master of Political Management from Carleton University.
