Simon believes that good City government is essential to our quality of life. Raised in Hamilton, Ontario, Simon attended McMaster University. There he worked for student newspaper, the Silhouette and served two terms in the McMaster Students Union. His previous government experience includes, working for David Christopherson, Member of Parliament for Hamilton-Centre, and working election campaigns at the Federal, Provincial, and Municipal levels. For over three years, Simon worked as Executive Assistant to Ward 3 Councillor Matthew Green. There, he was a part of a team that won best local politician as voted by the Hamilton Spectator Readers Choice Award for three years in a row.

In May 2018, Simon joined the Homelessness Policy and Programs Team with the City of Hamilton, working to end homelessness in his hometown. Simon holds a Masters of Political Management from Carleton University, and a BA (hon.) from McMaster University where he was valedictorian.
