The Provost supports the President in developing Carleton’s strategic direction for the next decade.
The Provost facilitates and supports Carleton’s Indigenous initiatives and serves as one of three co-chairs on the Carleton University Indigenous Strategic Initiatives Committee. The committee was convened in Fall 2018 to revitalize the University’s Indigenous strategy and re-energize our relationships with Indigenous communities in the region and across the country.

The Provost promotes continuous improvement of student retention, graduation and employability.
Experiential Learning and Other High-Impact Practices
The Provost fosters experiential learning and other high-impact practices. Carleton has made experiential learning a strategic priority and has incorporated it into its strategic plan and Teaching and Learning Framework.
The Provost is responsible for recruiting integrating and supporting academic leaders.
