Expectations for LOA at Carleton

Learning Outcomes Assessment is mandated by the Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) for all:

• New program proposals
• Cyclical program reviews
• Program monitoring

Learning Outcomes Assessment should be:

Meaningful- What do you want to know about the achievement of your LOs? Our office can help you create an assessment tool to find out.

Manageable- The expectation is that one to two LOs will be assessed per year. Often existing assessment evidence can be used in LOA.

Carleton is committed to supporting a culture of continuous improvement. Assessment results are yours and they are not reported or shared. Rather, they can be used to start a conversation about your program, as well as inform curricular changes.
