“Jewish Voices: Muslim Lands”, a public lecture by Professor Frances Malino

The Carleton University Zelikovitz Centre for Jewish Studies is pleased to announce that Professor Frances Malino, the Sophia Moses Robison Professor of Jewish Studies and History Emerita at Wellesley College, will be giving a public lecture at Carleton University in the evening on Sunday, Sept 22 (Time and location TBA).

Her topic will be “Jewish Voices: Muslim Lands.”  It will shine a light on facets of Jewish history that are often understudied, and in the process deepens our understanding of 19th and early 20th century France and the experiences of colonized peoples.

Professor Malino was named Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes académiques by the French Ministry of Education in 2012. She is the author of The Jews in Modern France (1985), A Jew in the French Revolution: The Life of Zalkind Hourwitz (1996), Profiles in Diversity: Jews in a Changing Europe (1998), and Voices of the Diaspora: Jewish Women Writing in the New Europe (2005), to name but a few of her publications.
