Maria earned her architecture degree at the IUAV University of Venice, Italy. Her master’s thesis focused on energy and seismic retrofit of school buildings, considering two case studies.
She started her PhD in 2017 at the Free University of Bolzano. She is now working on her PhD research, which deals with the optimization of storage technologies for solar-assisted heat pump systems. Her work, based on software simulations, aims to analyze optimal system designs for heating and cooling in residential buildings in different conditions, considering both energy and economic aspects. She is currently spending a 6-month period at Carleton University to improve and expand her research.
