As this phase of the SENSE-MD and SENSE-APP projects comes to a close, we would like to sincerely thank everyone who contributed along the way.
This work would not have been possible without the support of our Knowledge User Group, research participants, collaborators, and community partners. Your time, expertise, experiences, and feedback have helped shape both the research and the development of these projects.
Over the past several years, contributors have helped us better understand the needs, experiences, and priorities of mature drivers and those who support them. Through workshops, focus groups, surveys, consultations, and prototype reviews, you helped answer important questions about driving safety, independence, and mobility.
Together, we:
- Explored what it means to be a “risky driver” and how driving-related risks can be identified, understood, and communicated in meaningful ways.
- Shared experiences as mature drivers, family members, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and driving specialists to better understand real-world challenges and opportunities.
- Developed user personas and journey maps that helped us better understand the people we are designing for.
- Shaped the design and development of SENSE-APP through feedback on concepts, wireframes, prototypes, content, and usability.
- Helped ensure that the app is accessible, intuitive, supportive, and relevant to the needs of mature drivers.
- Reviewed findings and provided guidance throughout the research process to help strengthen both the evidence and the resulting solutions.
The knowledge, insights, and perspectives shared throughout this work have been invaluable. They have helped create a strong foundation for tools and resources that support safe, informed, and independent mobility for older adults.
While this phase of the projects has wrapped up, the work is not over. We are excited to continue building on what we have learned and are pleased to share that follow-up funding has been secured to support the next phase of SENSE-APP.
