Timothy is an undergraduate student in Carleton University currently (2021) studying in Aerospace Engineering Stream D: Space System Design. He is passionate about space mission and space robotics, which are the future focuses of technology development as space exploration becomes increasingly impactful. With his understanding of space missions and experience in programming, he strives to contribute to the space industry by performing research in the field of space robotics in the ASRoM-Lab. He joined the ASRoM-Lab in 2021 as an intern with focus on applying deep learning in space robotics. Specifically, applying reinforcement learning with neural network to a robotic arm on a free-floating servicing spacecraft that will help clear debris in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). Utilizing machine learning algorithm on robotic arm manipulation can improve the robustness, and provide autonomous control in the debris removal missions, which allow the servicing spacecraft to be self-sufficient.
