Rashid Nikzad is a manager at the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat (TBS), Government of Canada. He manages teams of researchers, data scientists, and evaluators to advance government’s priorities on the evaluation of innovation support programs, Quality of Life Framework, and Policy on Results. Before joining TBS, he worked at different federal government departments including the Copyright Board of Canada, Statistics Canada, Industry Canada (ISED), and the National Research Council Canada (NRC). Rashid holds a Ph.D. in Economics. He has significant experience on topics such as the links between intellectual property rights, innovation, and economic growth; evaluation of government’s innovation support programs; and the relationship between good governance and economic development. His team is experimenting with the use of artificial intelligence (AI), text mining, and other advanced modelling technics to assess the impact of government programs. Rashid has taught various graduate and undergraduate courses at Carleton University since 2016.
