Where and when is the colloquium held?
Now in its 30th year, the Underhill Graduate Student Colloquium is held every spring in the Department of History at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario.
Who can submit to present at the Underhill?
The Underhill Colloquium is a graduate student-run conference spotlighting MA and PhD student work, with keynote presentations from respected historians and scholars. We welcome submissions from graduate students in all disciplines on history-related topics spanning the spectrum of faculties, methodologies, formats, and dialogues. Submission priority goes to Carleton graduate students.
What is this year’s Underhill theme?
We are currently in the process of planning the 2024 Underhill Colloquium. Stay tuned for this year’s theme!

How long should proposals be?
Proposals should be ~250 words.
