Robert Blades, 2nd year student in the Collaborative MA in Public History with a Digital Humanities concentration, spent his summer on a public history internship “Unpacking 75 years of Federation History” for the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences. As part of a team of two, he used TimelineJS to create a timeline (still under development) of the Federation’s history.

In terms of digital process, Robert edited the TimelineJS source code files, got to experience the content management system Drupal and digitized items in Library and Archives Canada. In Robert’s own words, “In terms of Drupal and how TimelineJS integrated with it, the learning curve was quite steep.” However in the spirit of all those working in the Digital Humanities world, he persevered, learning by making mistakes and “playing around with the coding and the settings.

Hopefully Robert will update us when the timeline is fully released! You will find a full article on the work here.
