Provost Jerry Tomberlin is pleased to announce the appointment of Dwight Deugo as Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic). He will start his four-year term on July 1, 2019.
Deugo is an Associate Professor in the School of Computer Science. Since joining Carleton in 1997, he has held several administrative positions, including Assistant Dean (Recruitment and Retention) in the Faculty of Science from 2012 to 2017 and Interim Dean of Science from 2017 to 2018. In July 2018, he was appointed Assistant Vice-President (Academic).
In his new role, Deugo will provide primary support to the Provost and assume responsibilities for academic quality assurance, academic program and curriculum development and Senate liaison, in addition to serving as a member on various university committees.
“Dwight is a strong leader who has been instrumental in the Office of the Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President (Academic) this year,” said Tomberlin. “He is a perfect fit for this role and will continue to play a key part in furthering Carleton’s academic goals.”
Deugo will replace Lorraine Dyke, who has been appointed to a three-year term as Deputy Provost (Academic Operations and Planning), a position that was created in alignment with the recent expansion of the role of the Provost to include oversight of the operating budget, strategic planning and academic relations.
“On behalf of the Carleton community, please join me in welcoming Dwight Deugo to this position and thanking him for his continued demonstration of leadership and commitment to Carleton University,” said Tomberlin.
