Dr. Sulley Gariba, a Carleton graduate (M.A. ’81, Ph.D. ’89) and long-time friend of the Institute of African Studies, will receive an Honourary Doctorate from Carleton University at the 2 p.m. convocation ceremony on June 10, 2014. He will be recognized for his “longstanding work and academic scholarship in international development, civil society practices, government policy, and program development in Africa.” He is among the 10 outstanding individuals who will be receiving honourary doctorates at the June convocation. Dr. Gariba is currently the Senior Policy Advisor to the President of Ghana.
