The Institute of African Studies warmly congratulates Emma Bider for being selected for the Provost Scholar Award! Emma is a fourth year African Studies/Journalism student graduating with her Bachelors of Arts (Honours) and Bachelors of Journalism next month.

Emma was one of ten students at Carleton selected for this inaugural award which is given in recognition of outstanding undergraduate student academics in research, community engagement, immersive learning, and/or international activities. She has enhanced her learning through many international activities, including an exchange to the Netherlands, a reporting trip to Macedonia, taking the African Studies Abroad trip to Rwanda with Professor Allan Thompson, and doing a placement with Farm Radio International in Burkina Faso. Emma had these diverse and enriching international experiences while maintaining outstanding grades.

Congratulations Emma!
