African Studies congratulates Professor Paul Mkandaŵire (Institute of Interdisciplinary Studies cross-appointed to African Studies) for his 2016 Emerging Scholar Award from the American Association of Geographers (Health and Medical Geography Specialty Group). The Award is given annually to two awardees and it seeks to recognize scholars who show outstanding potential to make a distinguished contribution to the discipline of medical geography. Typically, early career scholars are academics in their 2nd-8th years of receiving their Ph.D.
