From 2021-2024, Carleton University received funding from the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Advanced Scholars program to run a research acceleration initiative for West African women PhD students and early-career researchers.
Led by Dr. Nduka Otiono, the initiative addressed the cultural and institutional barriers faced by women scholars by providing participants with access to resources including research supervision, seminars, placements in Canada and West Africa, leadership development, and networking opportunities.
