Abstract

Africa’s rich history of autonomous nations, advanced empires, and Indigenous knowledge systems has been overshadowed by centuries of exploitation and epistemic erasure. This seminar explores how restorative development, rooted in Indigenous knowledge, offers pathways for Africa to reclaim agency and achieve sustainable growth. Themes include:

  • Epistemic freedom and historical achievements.
  • Endogenous economic and governance systems.
  • Reaffirming African values like communalism and respect for nature.
  • Climate-adaptable entrepreneurship and technological innovation.

This critical discussion sheds light on how recentering African knowledge can foster a transformative future for the continent.
