    Biography

    David J Hornsby is the Vice-Provost & Associate Vice-President (Academic) and a professor in Carleton’s Norman Paterson School of International Affairs.

    Hornsby was previously a faculty member and head of department at University College London’s Department of Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy. He also spent eight years as a faculty member at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, in the Department of International Relations where he served as the Assistant Dean of Humanities (Teaching and Learning).

    Hornsby’s research interests pertain to pedagogy and philosophy of higher education, the politics of science and risk in international governance, and African and Canadian International Relations. He has a strong interdisciplinary research record having published in both the biological and social sciences and is an award-winning lecturer.

    Hornsby currently sits on the Board of Canadian Foreign Policy Journal, Digital Policy Studies, The Centre for Engaged Learning Open Book Series at Elon University and is the co-editor of the Political Pedagogies Series for Palgrave. Hornsby currently serves at the Chair of the Board for Volunteer Ottawa and has served on the Governing Council of the International Studies Association, World University Service of Canada, and the Canadian Bureau for International Education.
