Dr Kamal Hossain contributed to a letter published in The Telegram (featured on SaltWire) on 20 March 2019 discussing a better option for asphalt testing in Newfoundland. In this piece, concerns related to current asphalt testing practices and their limitations in addressing local climate and pavement performance issues have been highlighted, along with the need for more reliable and region-specific testing methods.
Dr Hossain emphasized the importance of adopting improved testing approaches that better reflect Newfoundland’s unique environmental conditions to enhance pavement durability and long-term performance. Once again, please know that Memorial’s pavement research team would be very pleased to collaborate with provincial/ municipal transportation departments for developing an improved pavement design, construction, and management system for our very own province.
