Publication alert: Natural products from a foliar conifer endophyte
Jordan Di Stefano (B.Sc. Biochemistry/2022) has had their honours thesis research on antifungal compounds from a fungal endophyte of spruce trees published. Endophytes are important but poorly studied components of ecosystems. This work represents the first reports of natural products from the endophyte studied. This research was part of a larger project in the groups of Profs. David McMullin and David Miller (Institute of Biochemistry). The characterization of endophyte communities has the potential to identify new sustainable management strategies to control forest pests and pathogens.
