Unlocking grid modernization for energy systems transformations and net zero goals with Dr. Bronwyn Lazowski
Grid modernization is a crucial component of the required electricity transformations to achieve net zero goals. In order to make these transitions, accelerated adoption of innovation at deployable scales is imperative; however, getting to deployment requires several stages in technical, policy, and regulatory domains. Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), through innovation and deployment funding, is working to address these energy system needs and to develop innovation in this area. NRCan is advancing grid modernization and grid readiness through research and programming, such as the Smart Renewables Electrification Pathways Program, The Smart Grid Program as well as the Innovation and Electricity Regulation Initiative. In this presentation, Dr. Bronwyn Lazowski will share an overview of grid modernization, system transformation trends to meet net zero goals, and provide an overview of active NRCan programming to meet these system needs.
